What Price Are You Getting for Gas? Last Update: March 25, 2011

Hello Everyone,

Here are the latest numbers.  If anyone else wishes to participate and provide data for my survey, please follow the instructions below.  I welcome all data.

I am now asking each respondent to provide me the following:

Section/Township/Range -- everyone (if you are in Texas, tell me your county, and the survey)

If you get your check from Chesapeake, please tell me:
Price received (before severence tax)
Does your lease entitle you to cost-free royalties?

If you get your check from one of the others,  please tell me:
Company you leased to
Company who is operating the well
Gross price
Please tell me each deduction, and the amount.
Net amount (before severence tax).  [I know, gross minus deductions ought to equal net, but I just want to make sure.]
Does your lease entitle you to cost-free royalties?

If you are WI or UMO:
Company operating the well
Gross price
Please tell me each deduction, and the amount.
Net amount (before severence tax).  [I know, gross minus deductions ought to equal net, but I just want to make sure.]

Please send me the information via GHS email.  This discussion is getting too large, and sometimes a post gets lost if I don't check in for 24 hours.  All info will be kept confidential. I will continue to post back what I learn periodically. Thanks in advance.

Hi Henry,

I sent you some previous data and you asked me to update for March, April, May and June. This data is for two wells in Red River Parish located in 13N, 11W. Each well is in a different unit, but each well is operated by HK. Both leases are "no cost" to the royalty owner. The Gross price is indicated on the stub. The only deduction is severance tax.

Here are the Gross Prices by well by month:

March 10 $4.59/$4.59
April 10 $3.69/$3.70
May 10 $3.95/$3.96
June 10 $3.87/$3.87

Most months are identical for each well with a few $.01 differences.
wrf,
Thanks.
Henry, i am #6 on your list, price for 5/10/2010 $3.98
pal,
Got it. Thanks.
Any particular number to call at CHK that is better than another? I have several numbers saved from previous discussions on past issues we had to call them about.
Henry, I am #2 on the list. Price for June 10, 2010 is $3.89.
Thanks granpa
I have updated my information. See the post at the top of this page. Chesapeake continues to give their landowners much lower prices. I still need more data. And... I need all of the Chesapeake landowners to call them and ask for an explanation. Please help me get to the bottom of this.
The best way to distribute the facts and end any hanky-panky is to buy a space ad in the Mansfield Enterprise. The word would spread like wildfire in DeSoto Parish and surrounding area.
William,
Why don't you send them a copy of the data?

I am waiting a while, hoping against hope, that one of the Chesapeake people who are on this site will step up and offer an explanation. Despite my requests, and my patience, they seem to be avoiding this topic like the plague. Chesapeake????
A space ad would state the facts as you know them, Henry. News coverage in the Enterprise might be biased due to Chesapeake’s local prominence or confused by bad reporting. If it’s a bad as it seems, there might be a large class action lawsuit on behalf of property owners and mineral rights owners.
William,
Class action suits are a loser for all. Nor can I imagine a true class, by the legal definition, being formed since all the landowners have different languages in their lease. I suspect that it will take a fairly large landowner (like the DeSoto Parish Police Jury), who stands to win a lot, to take this on, if Chesapeake is doing something wrong (and I have no evidence that they are doing anything illegal). Not that this would help the small landowner....

Also, I will not go out and publicly slam anyone based on such limited information. That would be highly irresponsible.
