Yes Thanks Les,

It is apparent to jack Blake that his section is in the HS and the BS.  SWEPI drilled the well in my section and most of the wells in sections around me.

I don't see a SWEPI map showing where they think the BS and HS are.

They opened my well on Oct. 18 and on sonris the last entry was in June.  I wonder if SWEPI is keeping their info. under their hat as much as possible because they are so big they don't have to promote the value and extent of their holdings to attract investors.....................(unlike Aubrey at CHK)

Jack, you are spot on that larger companies (Shell, BP, ExxonMobil, etc) do not release the same level of information as the independents.  Of course they are active in a lot more regions of the world also.

I also have SWEPI as an operator and the well is in production but nobody  knows yet how much is being produced.  I don't think they let the information out until people start getting paid. 

Does anyone know if the operators are required to publish completion numbers?  Why does sonris say well potentialed but not say what that potential is?

Jeff, the delay is related to the time taken by the State to upload the information into Sonris.  Typically the operator submits the well test information (Potential Report) to the State within 1-2 weeks after the well is placed on production.  The State can take 1-4 months before uploading the information.  I believe the time period lengthened with the increase in Haynesville Shale activity as State employees became overloaded.

Is the completion data that we see in the paper every Sunday dependent on the state uploading the potential report into the system?  and is there anywhere else we can access the potential report or the test information?

By the way, Love the maps, looks like 12-9 has potential for both the HA and Mid Bossier....someday

Jeff, the Shreveport Times sends a reporter to the local LOC District 6 office on Fridays to compile the Locations and Completions article which I try to post on the site each Sunday.  Since the LOC SONRIS staff is unable to keep up with timely posting of submitted data, the Times article is the most current of sources of which I am aware.  IMO, the person or persons who compile the report are prone to small mistakes as they are not experienced in the process or jargon of the reporting of oil ans gas wells.  Still it is a valuable service.

Thanks for the info and for posting the weekly report.  I read it every time.  I wondered if they had fresher information than Sonris.  It is funny how the times just cuts it off in the middle (in the printed version) when they have more ad space sold.  I have had people tell me that they saw it and there "must not be much"going on this week when they can get the full report here or at the times online.

Jeff, normally the completions information in the Shreveport Times will show up in Sonris either the week before or the week after the information in the newspaper.  So the Shreveport Times seems also heavily reliant upon getting the information from the State.

The LOC District Six file room on the sixth floor in the state office building on Fairfield Ave. is open to the public.  Anyone may review the paper records on file for all the parishes covered by the district.  A visit will demonstrate quickly and beyond a shadow of a doubt that the staff is undermanned and overworked.  The volumes of data can be overwhelming for a layman.  I was there yesterday looking for a well file.  There must have been 100 stacked on a table and unfiled.  After pulling a couple from those that are filed, I wonder if there is even room for that 100.  The volume of reports generated by the Haynseville Shale development is huge and comes at a time when all state agencies are doing their best to do their jobs short staffed.  The staffers at the district office are knowledgeable and courteous.  I admire their tenacity and professionalism.

Thanks to all of you who provide information on this site I believe the readers here are some of the best informed there are. 

Skip, I also agree whole heartedly on the state of the State workers.  My wife works for one of the state agencies and has been under the threat of layoff for several months now due to budget cuts.  It is a wonder that they can still focus on their daily jobs when they have that hanging over their heads for so long. 

Patience is a virtue or so I have heard.  Can't say it is one of mine though.  Jeff

Well, interesting issue.  I look at the scout reports that come out on Wednesday evening, I believe, on sonris (Shreveport district)

(http://sonris-www.dnr.state.la.us/sonlite.htm, click on "Shreveport scout details" under Pre-Run reports).

I have not completely cross-correlated to confirm this matches the Shreveport Times, and it may well not, but this seems to be the first place information hits sonris - ahead of the actual database.

 

I also appreciate your postings of the Shreveport Times report though, always peruse it, and google for it if you miss posting and I need a new data fix ;-) (ie., thanks).
