It seems that EnCana is only major player in Haynesville that is not drilling the Cotton Valley or Haynesville. EXCO has flipped or contracted their Cotton Valley CULs to Indigo, BHP to Sklar, Chesapeake to Indigo, EnCana to no one. Can anyone shed any light on this.

ECA started in DeSoto and leased south. SWEPI started down in Sabine and leased north. Their minimal Bossier leasehold may have been acquired outside of the JV with SWEPI.

It seems the JV with SWEPI was in south Desoto and Bossier.

Do any of the JV's mention Bossier. I've looked at the Bossier records and there are none recorded.
Permalink Reply by Bobi Carr ("parker") on January 11, 2015 at 13:20 I have in the past seen instruments recorded in the wrong Parish. If any of those JV's mention Bossier Parish, it may have been an oversight that they did not record them in Bossier.

Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on January 12, 2015 at 8:16 Thanks. As I posted previously the Encana Haynesville leasehold was acquired by XTO in E TX, not in NW LA.
Permalink Reply by Skip Peel - Mineral Consultant on January 11, 2015 at 12:26 There are few ECA wells in Bossier and one in Caddo. The ECA/SWEPI JV covered DeSoto, Red River and Sabine parishes. Considering that there are about 3 dozen conveyance instruments from ECA to SWEPI recorded in DeSoto, it would lake many hours to review the lands and leases covered in them all.
Permalink Reply by Bobi Carr ("parker") on January 11, 2015 at 13:27 Encana only has two wells in Bossier, but when you have an interest in those wells...they are the only wells. LOL.
Permalink Reply by Bobi Carr ("parker") on January 11, 2015 at 13:29 I'm just trying to find out if I need to be interested in XTO's happenings. There sure as heck aren't any ECA happenings.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
