What's the going rate on pipeline right-of-ways?  Is it by running for for a particular width?  Is it by square footage?  Is it a one-time bonus money deal, or do you lease it to them?

There is not really a "going rate" on pipeline r-o-w's, unless eminent domain is involved. This "rate" is almost always negotiable, and a little homework will help. What are nearby owners being offered?  What is your land worth to you long term? Don't get in a hurry!

Usually the first offer is made on a $/rod basis(per 16.5' running foot). It is pretty easy to convert to an acreage figure. There is a permanent pipeline width plus the temporary work area width that must be factored in. If timber is involved, have a forester give you an estimate.

There is a one-time payment to you, but it is a servitude or easement, and you will continue to pay the property taxes.

Not one size fits all, hopefully, these hints will help. Good luck!

Thank you.

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
