If that was one of the conferences in BR, would they have canceled it due to the storm? I haven't looked for any updates, just a thought.

THE CONFERENCE LASTED TWO HOURS. SOMEONE OPPOSED COMINGLING OF HOSSTON,COTTONVALLEY AND HAYNESVILLE. THERE WIL BE A HEARING IN BATON ROUGE.

It was not an actual hearing so it was held in Shreveport at the Petroleum Club. J-W Operating submitted an application to form Hosston, Cotton Valley and Haynesville production units in Sections 11, 15 in 15n 14w and to form Haynesville production units in Sections 10, 11, 14 and 15 in 15n 13w.

J-W also are requesting approval for downhole combination of production of the Hosston, Cotton Valley and Haynesville in Sec. 15, 15n 14w.

Thanks, I hadn't looked at that application so I didn't know if it was another one here or in BR. BTW, what township & range were those sections in?

I don't know the gentleman's name but he did say that he was a landowner in the area and also worked in the o/g industry. I just did not ask him his name afterward.

What is the down side of co-mingling? I was at the meeting and never understood why the man had a problem. He was also talking about wasting gas? The JW rep. finally told him they are not in the business of wasting gas. If the pressure drops on the Haynesville one day and they want to come back and perforate the Hoss. and CV. why is that a problem? The way I understood him is that he didn't like the idea of not knowing which zone the gas was coming from. Is he not going to get royalty on all the production? Does his lease state he can't have anything but the Haynesville zone? Most leases cover everything to a certain depth, as in a Pugh clause or to the center of the earth if no clause. Aren't the Hosston and Cotton Valley on the way down to the Haynesville? Don't they have everything from the surface to whatever depth is speicified in your lease, if anything? Someone clear me up on this.

I hope that someone else can give a more accurate answer but here is my stab at answering.

If J-W perforates and produces all 3 zones, they cannot tell which zone is producing what amount of gas or if any of the zones are depleted and no longer producing gas. If J-W was allowed to co-mingle, what could happen is that the Haynesville and the Cotton Valley are depleted and the Hosston is the only producing zone. If that happens, J-W would be able to hold by production the leases through the depth of the Haynesville even though the Hosston would be the only producing zone.

Mr. Smelley stated that if the J-W horizontal Haynesville well they intend to drill, stops producing 40 years from now, J-W wanted to be able to produce the other 2 zones if and when that happens.

Why put the cart before the horse and ask to be able to produce the other 2 zones when it could have a detrimental effect on the landowners' leases?

There were more people there than I have seen at any other pre-hearing conference.

The landowner I believe was from Frierson and said he worked in the o/g industry. He also mentioned that there is a lot of waste when gas is co-mingled.

A spinner test would determine what zone the gas is coming from. I understand what you guys are saying and thanks for the reply. I guess I think too far in advance. I see several wells producing in this section when the first ones play out. Thanks again for the info.
