Just wondering if any of you Geologists out there would be willing to give your opinion on the Earth's age - especially if you are a believer.

I'm NOT trying to start a religious argument here - just curious.

For what it's worth I'm a christian who tends to believe the Earth is billions of years old and I am curious to know if there are any geologists or geologically knowledgable people who disagree with that outlook.

No geologist but am a Christian......
Scientists say the universe from the time of the Big Bang is 13.7 billion years old.
"Genesis begins nearly 5 billion years ago, when enough heavy elements have accumulated to produce a probability threshold at which first few very rare, Earth-like worlds, and then more and more of them, are likely to form." From Charles Pellegrino's book Ghosts of Vesuvius........of which I am reading. Sometime later life emerges..... Taking my time reading as it is very "heavy" as well. I do not understand many of the theories put forth, but it is good reading for anyone interested in our vast Universe/s and nature of our blue oasis of a planet we occupy, called Earth! My belief is our Creator is behind it all.....no matter when it began. I certainly will not be involved in any religeous argument either. As Jay the Shalegeo says ........"my opinion".
A beautiful plan.......
Wonder what the future holds for the generations ahead.......
I am no geologist but I believe we all are riding a spaceship headed to some far off destination. We have all the things we need to survive the trip packed on board. We may arrive at our destination today or a zillion years from now. Are you ready to unboard?
You're traveling through another dimension -- a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind. A journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's a signpost up ahead: your next stop: the Twilight Zone!
Not me, I'm here for the duration. I'm onboard.

Only if you choose the T.Z. Me? I prefer the solid ground of Spaceship Earth.
This is an interesting read.....

Oh and I am a Christian and think we are wonderfully made by a creator that loves us and His creation dearly.
Pope: Creation vs. evolution clash an ‘absurdity’
Benedict XVI also says humans must listen to ‘the voice of the Earth’
MSNBC News Services updated 1:55 p.m. CT, Wed., July. 25, 2007
LORENZAGO DI CADORE, Italy - Pope Benedict XVI said the debate raging in some countries — particularly the United States and his native Germany — between creationism and evolution was an “absurdity,” saying that evolution can coexist with faith.
The pontiff, speaking as he was concluding his holiday in northern Italy, also said that while there is much scientific proof to support evolution, the theory could not exclude a role by God.
“They are presented as alternatives that exclude each other,” the pope said. “This clash is an absurdity because on one hand there is much scientific proof in favor of evolution, which appears as a reality that we must see and which enriches our understanding of life and being as such.”
He said evolution did not answer all the questions: “Above all it does not answer the great philosophical question, ‘Where does everything come from?’”
Benedict also said the human race must listen to “the voice of the Earth” or risk destroying its very existence.
The pope is wrapping up a three-week private holiday in the majestic mountains of northern Italy, where residents are alarmed by the prospect of climate change that can alter their way of life.
“We all see that today man can destroy the foundation of his existence, his Earth,” he said in a closed door meeting with 400 priests on Tuesday. A full transcript of the two-hour event was issued on Wednesday.
“We cannot simply do what we want with this Earth of ours, with what has been entrusted to us,” said the pope, who has been spending his time reading and walking in the scenic landscape bordering Austria.
Our Earth is talking to us
World religions have shown a growing interest in the environment, particularly the ramifications of climate change.

Funny you should bring that point up... did you like the archival evidence above?
You are surely not crazy, and I believe as you do.
How about Parallel Worlds by Dr. Michio Kaku. Heavy duty stuff. His theory is "String Theory"....quantum physics, cosmology, really fantastic stuff. He wishes to "believe" as he says the Universe/s is so perfect. I also recommend "Da Jesus Book" by Matthew, Mark, Luke & John plus a few more writers.....however in Pidgen English.
