Hey Sharon, I think the question you meant to ask is,"are natural gas producers still leasing and buying minerals rights in the Haynesville Shale, Yes they are and they will be till there isnt a square inch left. You should read all you can and do a little research and learn about the process. There are plenty of knowledgable poeple on the site who can help with your questions, I am sorry it took 17 hours for anyone to reply to you.

Thank you. I live in Austin, and I don't know much about what is going on in Louisiana. I am just trying to sell some land for my mother. She doesn't want to pay taxes on it anymore. Again, thank you.....I will keep reading.

My mother said she would like to keep 1/2 the mineral rights. It's more about taking care of her than our future.

Sharon,

At least try to establish a value for those mineral rights before you
arbitrarily decide to let 1/2 of them go with the property. Especially if it is a larger tract of land.
Also has your mom looked at a reverse mortgage. A reverse
mortgage might give her the funds needed to accomplish what you
wish to do. I completely understand the need to move an aging parent closer to you. We moved my mom closer 10 years ago, and
it was the best thing for her and us.
When emotions are involved, it is easier to make a bad decision. Do what you can to get good advice so that you do not make an emotional decision.

Sharon,

Why don't you check with a real estate agent that works in that area. And check with neighbors to see if there is a group that
your mom can join to get a good lease offer for her property.

Don't sell anything.

Especially not until you have property evaluated the value of the property and the mineral rights.
