"Chesapeake Energy Corp. is shelving Shale.TV, an online video program it planned to launch this year to cover developments in the gas-rich Barnett Shale region with veteran Dallas TV anchor Tracy Rowlett at the helm.

Fort Worth-based Chesapeake (NYSE: CHK), which also hired former NBC Dateline and ABC PrimeTime Live producer Olive Talley and Emmy-award winning producer John Sparks to oversee Shale.TV’s coverage, blames the program’s failure to launch on a tough economy that forced the company to reconsider its focus and financial commitments.

'We truly regret having to make this tough decision. But we know, given today’s economic challenges faced by our country and industry, it is the right decision as we focus our time and resources on exploration and production activities,' said Jerri Robbins, manager of public relations for Chesapeake."

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
