Half of my section is owned by one man.......
and he leased back in late April for ZERO bonus and 25% according to the documents I found at the Bossier courthouse.
I've heard of people getting jipped....but dang ! There really must be more to this situation. Maybe there is a deal outside the lease?

Many leases have a phrase like "and other considerations". I think this covers the $1/2 million check they gave him.

The lease had a place where the bonus would be listed....but it said
"NO" dollars.
Is that standard practice? To not list the amount?

Many leases do not include the entire agreements, especially for larger tracts of land. Sometimes the lease will state there is a side letter agreement and this is not recorded with lease. More than once I have given my lease, along with neighbors, simply to get a committment to drill a well within certain short time frame. At the same time we got higher royalty for lease.
