As our "resident expert" on the industry a quick question>

Since much of the Haynesville Play is under established fields, do new contracts need to be negotiated to drill deeper in existing leases?

I too have a question. I believe i have depth limitations, I have been leased for nearly 10 yrs, I have a seperate clause specifically stating that the lease only includes the depths from the top of the Cotton Valley Formation as defined by the logs of a certian well to fifty feet below the stratigraphic equivilent of the deepest producing zone of the well. Do you know what stratigraphic equivilent of the deepest producing zone means exactly in laymans terms? I know this was once explained to me (by my attorney) but at the time I was trying to understand so much at once and trying to be careful too, that I need a memory jog. If you could please explain it I would be so grateful.
Thank you,
Margaret

Can they go deeper on areas the control, have under production already?
Thanks for the insight, this is it seems a major concern for many people leased with older holdings.

Hi Jim,

I have a lease with Cross Bayou Exploration which I have been told is not an operator that was signed in April 2008 before the Haynesville announcement. There is no designation that I can tell that mentions depth or horizons. It really has not description except the land. Any suggestions on more information?
