Is it the norm for a company to pay out the first royalty check late? And if so, how long will it take to receive the first one. They haven't sent a do yet.

Thanks

Don't hold your breath waiting on that Division order. It could be years before you see it depending on the circumstances and the operator. Our minerals fall in 3 sections that have all been in pay for over two years with no D.O. These are KCS/Petrohawk wells though. We have a small holding with Chesapeake and they sent out the D.O. just as the 90 days expired. Our KCS leases are paying though. They were well past 180 days when we had an attorney send a demand letter. The first check including back pay came shorly thereafter. My advice would be to first call and ask for a time frame and how much $ to expect. Always be nice on the phone especially when you leave a message and they will call you back. If that doesnt work have a lawyer write a demand letter.
