Wow, great info. Thanks much.
Robert,
You are definately correct in regards to there being nothing left in regards to the Petit Formation (I believe that was where the production came from). But that doesn't necessarily mean there is nothing deeper. Chesapeake drilled a deep test in that area in 2006 I believe. I think they went around 16,000 feet vertical. For some reason that well has never been P & A. Classified as "shut in - future utility". And some time back I asked Jay the GEO on this site about this well, and he said the logs were not on file with the state. The same with another deep test drilled by EOG in the same area. That well was plugged and abandoned. But no logs on file. I think that may tell us something about that area.
Do they normally have logs on P&A 'd wells?
Yes, logs are supposed to be filed on all wells drilled. At least that is what I have been told.
Yes, most of the time even a dry hole is logged. The logs would provide valuable info about the local geology. You are not required to log, but you have to notify the state that this was the case. That notice would be in the well file at conservation. If they logged, they are required to submit that log to the state. They can ask for it to be held confidential for a short period (90 days i think).

They may have neglected to submit the logs, the well file will have a letter asking for them if this is the case.
ITs also possible, the logs just didn't make it to SONRIS. Check with OC.
Back to the original thread..."best wells so far"....I'll stick to my guns and the 1st post on this thread...Petrohawk wells by far , with Sample 9 the current leader of the pack.
