They aim to make the roads safe. The Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit or the C-V-E-U, inspects commercial vehicles using Bossier Parish roads. Trucks are inspected thoroughly and are weighed to make sure they are within posted guidelines.

The unit aims to get compliance for public safety, preservation of the infrastructure, and a level playing field for all truckers. The build-up of I-49 and the boom from the Haynesville Shale created the need for a joint effort with Caddo Parish. "We work closely together because their problems is our problems. That river is not really a stop gap, they're coming over that river", says Commercial Vehicle Officer Russell Craig.

This year the C-V-E-U has collected about one hundred and twenty-five thousand dollars from permitting trucks to be driven on parish roads. Written citations for trucks out of compliance tallied close to one hundred and ninety thousand dollars.
