KEITHVILLE, LA (KSLA) - Drilling in the Haynesville Shale could soon move into it's first public park in the Ark-La-Tex.

The Caddo Parish Commission leased the mineral rights underneath 383 acres at Eddie D. Jones park in Keithville in the summer of 2008.

Now, commissioners are combing over a $20,000 contract with Chesapeake that would allow drilling to begin.

They are also considering a $50,000 contract that would allow pipelines to be put in to move the gas out.

A final discussion is expected on Monday, and a vote is set for Thursday, April 9th.

If approved, Chesapeake says its ready to move in April 10th.
