Two companies in the thick of the Haynesville Shale natural gas exploration and production will celebrate openings of new field offices this week and next week.

EnCana Oil & Gas USA will open its Coushatta field office in Red River Parish with an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday. Cake and light refreshments will be served.

EXCO Resources Management will mark the opening of its field office and groundbreaking of a gathering and treating facility in DeSoto Parish at 11 a.m. June 26. A presentation is set for 11:30 a.m., with lunch following at noon.

Construction of the 10,400-square-foot facility was completed in May and serves as headquarters for the company’s northwest Louisiana operations and its 50 employees who are working on Haynesville Shale wells and other wells in the region.

EXCO’s office is located on U.S. Highway 175, 2.8 miles south of Interstate 49 in the Kingston community.

EnCana’s office is located northeast of Coushatta. To get there, take state Highway 71 about two miles north of town and turn right where U.S. Highway 371 splits. Travel about 6 miles to state Highway 786, turn right and go approximately 2.5 miles down Stark Way.
