Alley Cats doesn't really offer individual financial assistance, but if this is a feral (stray or wild) cat, the Krewe of Barkus and Meoux may be able to help you out. Drop an email to animalkrewe@yahoo.com and request assistance. You would have to agree not to shoot him, however :). I agree with KB, there are worse things than having a cat to keep critters away from your property. You can put rocks on top of the dirt in your planters to keep the cats out of it.

Dorcheat, I just now peeked at this thread, and saw you mention planting bell peppers. It's not too late, in fact, with this recent cool spell, the peppers have been really slow to get started. Get some in the ground; they love the heat. Can you believe bell peppers cost a dollar apiece in the grocery store?

I was looking into expanding my garden, and that's exactly what I would like to do, I really didn't get the chance to plant them. My mom use to take bell peppers and clean all the seeds and junk out of them. Then she would stuff them with hamburger and rice and a whole bunch more of good stuff. This is my first year ever planting a garden, old man Krowe talk me into tearing up my San Augustine grass and it's been worth it so far. I took everybodies advice and planted tomatos three different ways, upside down, in a ten gallon bucket, and straight into the ground, so far the tomatos in the ground are kicking butt, their out growing everything by far. I have harvested some jalapenos, but I don't know how to pickle them just yet, you got any ideas?
