And, to borrow a phrase, goodnight you princes (and princesses & pirates) of the ArkLaTex, you kings of The Shale.

Stay Safe Shalers
Enjoy 2009! Many opportunities!
May all have a happy and prosperous new year.
Happy new year to all.

Stay safe.

And don't forget to eat your Ham, cabbage and black eyed peas.
Beautiful celebration!! By the way, I'm online now....BY MYSELF! I think that must be the first time I've logged in here and nobody else was online. Anyway, guess you guys are taking a break from everything OIL and GAS...which is a GREAT thing to do every now and again! Best wishes...

PS...going to cook some black-eyed peas tomorrow. Darn...wish I had some grits!
I'm right there with you KB on the peas. I can eat the cabbage with no problem. (The only way I will be getting any gas soon) but I take a big detour around the pea bowl!
Funny, but so far my not eating the peas has caused no health problems. Devouring cabbage, alas, has brought no financial gain either!
Give me a ribeye and I am good to go!!!
HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE PEACE BE UNTO YOU AND YOURS
KB, i am disappointed to say the least -- what's to hate about black-eyed peas, & I love anything that says chili, however the fresh green beans may be an acceptable sub for you, they are green & they have fiber. Rib eyed are tasty but we are getting away from Southern tradition aren't we? About pigs looking forward? I don't know--whatever floats your boat.....go, shalers, go!
Take a deep breath, KB.
I will tell you what is to hate a bout black-eye peas or blue-eyed peas for that matter.......................they are downright nasty. They seem to multiply in my mouth. So much for Southern traditions! Beef is king.
Having said that, there is nothing better than a bowl of pinto beans, seasoned with lots of forward facing Pig and a big piece of my Mother's cornbread!
Makes my mouth water just thinking about them!!
That cornbread will make you slap your pappy!
In our family it is

Ham for health

Cabbage for money

Black eyed peas for good luck.

I never liked the cabbage as a kid but would hold my nose and eat it anyway. I've always loved black eyed peas, so I will consume enough of them for KB ath Cathus' proxy.
Parker,
As old and ugly as I am, I have never ever had my very own pea proxy!!!
How thrilling!
