Hi Les,

Would you know where Goodrich's rig Nicklos #5 Rig that was drilling in Angelina went?  Goodrich was talking about drilling in the TMS in 1st qtr and I wonder if this rig was moving over to that play?

TC, that particular drilling rig is currently off the radar screen but drop me a note next Friday (2/24) and I will check if it has resurfaced.

Les, why is it that the "Locations and Completions" never equal the rig count. Most of the time there are more rigs in Sabine than is printed in the Location/Completion section of Shreveport Times.

The Shreveport Times report "Locations and Completions" isn't counting active rigs drilling wells.  It's a list of wells newly permitted and those newly completed.  Big difference as neither category has to do with rigs.  New permits have not yet begun to drill.  And completed wells haven't had a rig on them in weeks if not months.

Shaleeee, the average drilling time for a well is around 5 weeks.  So you only need to permit about one-fifth (20%) of the rig count each week.  For example you would need to permit about 2 wells a week in Sabine Parish to keep up with 10 drilling rigs.  Currently there are about 20 permitted Haynesville/Bossier Shale wells in Sabine Parish that have not been spudded.  Finally, the Shreveport Times does not necessarily list all the permitted wells.
