THE GHS HAYNESVILLE SHALE RIG TRACKER.  2023

I'll update each week so we can follow the rig count.  I am only counting rigs drilling the Haynesville and Bossier formations.  Many industry rig numbers are for the "Haynesville Area",  however they may defined that, and includes wells drilling other formations.

Although not huge when compared to royalty and production revenues, the immediate local impact on gas stations, convenience stores, restaurants, food trucks and similar "oil field personnel hot spots" is pretty significant.

Personal experience talking here - I knew where every place that was open 24 hours was located when I was in the field!

And those rural Louisiana convenience stores will also sell you a lottery ticket or two, or three.  Their beer is usually quite cold.  However I expect that out of town oil field workers are most appreciative of our drive thru daiquiri shops. Meant for men and women on the go!  ;-)

Figuring 3 weeks per well, one gets 17 new wells per year assuming 24/7 activity for 12 months.

Massive capital out lay and investments.

I wish more people would think about what these operators are spending as they do this work.

And these costs don't include the "back office" people in their offices doing land work, title opinions, division orders, accounting, HSE, etc.

The cost per well is going up as it always does when the operators are profitable.  That's just field services and suppliers making up for getting squeezed to death when times are not good for operating companies.  D&C costs are up ~15% to 20% but the profits being reported by all major and mid-major companies are quite impressive.  For mineral lessors, unleased mineral owners and Working Interests, appreciation of the industry would be facilitated by much less pencil whipping, extraordinary post production deductions, gaming the regulatory system and being a little more transparent with data such as unit surveys.
