It has been mentioned before that there will be other zones that are going to be found productive while they are drilling for the HS. Many unit applications for HS also include the Hosston, Cotton Valley and Lower Cotton Valley along with the HS.

Do they produce these formations with the same well? From the same pad? Do they decide based on logs?

Parker: You are absolutely correct!!! I've spent a lot of time considering exactly the points you make. Email me sometime and I'll send details on plans for additional regulation that would not kill our "goose" but allow it to flourish...while protecting property rights and while balancing production so as not to devalue our valuable gas production..............
Goshdarn: But I HAVE to waste my valuable time on this! Like others I have poured hopes, dreams, and $$$ into my land. I want equal protection under the law. Don't be so naive to believe things will even out over time. I know of many owners in underdeveloped Cotton Valley units who have watched helplessly for decades as their neighbors in the next unit profit from multiple wells while they are stuck with one marginally economical well in their unit...and there is no geological reason behind it. I think 640 acre, mulit-well units are appropriate for the Haynesville but there MUST be other provisions to protect landowners and balance production amongest the various units over time.
It seems to me that for years the drilling unit law was violated by the DOC's own rules.
For many years there was generally one unit well in a 640 acre gas unit. And you know that much of that unit did not contribute any gas, but got a share of the proceeds.
