In the 3rd qtr. Devon Energy completed two high volume vertical natural gas wells in the Haynesville Lime drilling program in Carthage, Texas. The two wells came in at an IP of 26 and 22 million cubic feet. These wells are more than the XXX monster wells that the Haynesville Shale vertical wells produce. The Haynesville Lime formation underlies the Haynesville Shale formation on Devon's property and most likely throughout the Haynesville Shale play and therefore makes the Haynesville Shale play at least 10x more valuable.

Jordan, the key question is does it contain natural gas. You should ask Jay (ShaleGeo) to comment on the Haynesville (Cotton Valley) Limestone.
Mr. Reamer:

If you really believe your assessment, will you give me 8X my cost in the play and then you can make another 25% off of that?

TMB
That is great news if they can ever find a market for the gas!
The way it is now, more gas in the market means working themselves out of a job!
Who stated that the Haynesville Lime was under all of the Haynesville Shale play? I do not recall Devon making that statement or the 10X comment. Rather, I recall Devon stating that the Haynesville lime was under that one East Texas field. Is the Haynesville Lime Texas speak for the Smackover?
SB,
Thats what it sounds like to me.
is there anywhere i can get a map of these places online , for example (S/2 of N/2) of section 26, Township 13 North, Range 14 West, Desoto Parish, Lousiana
Where is this?
I was recently informed by an atty for Encana that the prices paid to landowners over the summer were "artificially inflated". What do you make of that?
The prices were inflated by a senseless competetion between big players. The leasing was done without regard for building usable leasholds. All they wanted was as many acres as possible to brag to wallstreet about.
more like Buy High, and hold to your a**
I see what saying, and I don't disagree. Encana has a fidiciary duty to its stockholders to make as much money as they can. This means paying a little as possible.

Although lately most people in the markey have bought high. Some have sold low, and some of us are holding on hoping to hit the bottom soon and hopefully get a big bounce.
I agree. Selling now is like throwing your life preserver overboard while the ship sinks.

But, I'm sure they are some out there who in this economy just need the cash.
