Now that the "Hall of Fame" has reached 100 wells I thought it may be a good time to update the list with the latest information. Fourteen different operators now have featured wells.

There are eight (8) parishes and counties with wells on the list with the top two being Red River (37) and DeSoto (31). Top operators are Petrohawk (28), EnCana (18), Questar (11), Exco (9), Chesapeake (8) and Comstock (7).

Texas now has three of the top four wells.

The list includes wells that had an initial rate above 20 MMcfd.

SB, my on trend characterization was related to both wells location in SA County and in the same relative structural position. I believe this is the 1st well Devon had completed in SA County so would guess they were still in the learning mode both in understanding rock quality and frac designs in this part of the Haynesville/Bossier Shale play.

I agree Devon has not attained the same level of success as some of the other players. Chalk this up to the location of their acreage position and being further down on the learning curve for the play.

I just don't have enough evidence at this time to say Devon's results with the Kardell well are related to an attempt to grab headlines. For all I know they may have followed the same test procedures as utilized on earlier wells in other parts of the play and just encountered vastly different results. We all learn from our mistakes (or someone else's mistakes) and make the necessary changes.
I think the IP was for wall street to help crimson to get financing and stock IPO done
Adubu, Devon was the operator of the well not Crimson. Non-operators do not determine well test plans as this was Devon's responsibility.
les B I beleive and correct me if I am wrong crimson and devon where JV in the well Crimson (CXPO) 52% and devon (DVN 48%) WI yes devon drilled the well as operator. A short time after this was reported early Nov. CXPO obtain a $ 100 million financial deal and listed from"pink sheets" to Nasdaq stock market trading
Adubu, as I say Crimson as non-operating owner does not decide the test procedure for the Kardell well - Devon as operator does make that determination. Therefore there is no basis for suggesting the well was tested at a high rate to help Crimson get financing.
Les B --i think that is a augmentative question I think since Crimson had controlling WI with 52% they may have had a say. But I will leave it at that
Adubu, the 52% is not really relevant as test procedures are not a voting matter under a JOA. Crimson approves the capital for drilling the well but the operator is in control of all remaining matters regarding the procedures for drilling and completing the well. This is the reason Anadarko is laying all the responsibility on BP for the GOM disaster.
les b i find it interesting that crimson file for $100 million deal to convert there stock about two week later after the Kardell reported you go figure that to what ever opinion you desire but i think the high IP had a "Wall Street reason" Even some of CHK EOG tout for same reason to stimulate their stock price and to get financing done The american greed is still real thing
Les B --i agree Anadarko had no input in drilling and completion of the BP well they where 25% passive WI interest in well. Same with RIG they drilled the well per BP decisions and BP is fully responsible for the well and damages. BP is big company that does not need to tout their results they simply cut a lot of corners to save few million that they had done repeatedly before and got away with it without problem but this time they push envelope to hard and far and got burned real bad. Small company do the other spend some money to get more. This is simply MO we live to disagree and learn and go on down the road
Adubu, you insinuated Devon tested the Kardell well at a high rate for the purpose of pumping Crimson stock. I just clarified that Devon is not controlled by Crimson in determining the well's test procedure.

Financing done with 3rd parties is not a function of well IP rates but rather actual cash flow and earnings performance. Also, most institutional investors and Wall Street analysts are not driven solely by well test rates and look to a wide range of financial performance criteria.
les B Head Lines do play a major part in investors emotions short term decisions in buying or selling so I leave this as my opinion vs your right to your opinion. FYI I have 1000+ shares of DVN and agree there are excellent company even with shares down ~50% in last 2 years
Adubu, please just note I did not reference headlines and I discussed institutional investors and Wall Street analysts.
