Texas law I guess is totally different to la. Law. My Grandmother outlived my step grandfather which in La she inherited one half. But he had no children. My Mother and her 3 brothers fell next in line. They are all deceased. So me, my sister and several cousins fell into the heirship of all min rights only because she outlived him. Texas landman says they will take one fourth of our royalties and give back to actual blood heirs. Is this true. There were no children on his part and he never adopted any of her children. How would this work. In Texas. If we own the min rights for the rest of our life. We were also told there are royalties held in receivables account for all of us. How do they decide what to pay everyone. Is it true we lose one fourth, We call ourselves the generic heirs even though he was the only Grandpa we ever knew. By them having no children why would she not inherited all of her half and his. I am sooooooo confused.

did he have a will? If so what did it say about who the heirs named to  received his assets?
No he did not have a will. La law gave her his half and she got half. He had no children. But our Greandmother had my mother and her 3 brothers. Everyone is deceased so her half falls to my sister and myself and a few cousins. Land man says it will be divided between us by we were told a fourth would go back to blood heirs. Landman for Gas co has not mentioned that. We discussed it a little.
