An on-site natural gas fueling station containing 26 natural gas pumps has been installed at Commerce City's Alpine Waste & Recycling - making it the biggest privately held Colorado company to install such a station, the company said today.

Alpine said the station was completed in partnership with Seal Beach, Calif.-based Clean Energy Fuels Corp.

The Commerce City firm acquired its first natural gas-powered truck two years ago and now has eight natural gas-powered trucks. Every night, they fill up at the fueling station located on East 84th Avenue in Commerce City.

By December, Alpine said it believes it will convert 30 percent of its fleet to natural gas. Eventually, it plans to complete its entire fleet to natural gas-powered vehicles.
