Are you sure you're not talking about Letters Testamentary?

letters testamentary n. a document issued by the court clerk which states the authority of the executor of an estate of a person who has died. It is issued during probate of the estate as soon as the court approves the appointment of the executor named in the will and the executor's files a security bond if one is necessary (most well-drafted wills waive the need for a bond). Certified copies of the letters are often required by banks and other financial institutions, the federal government, stock transfer agents or other courts before transfer of money or assets to the executor of the estate.

Ok, I get it letters of tesamentary are the same as letters of administration. Thamks

If you are probating a will be SURE to get a couple of copies of certifed copy of probated will for your records.    You might need one 20 years ahead and by then the document will be in storage and could take weeks to get copy.

Also keep several copies of filed death certificates.

If there are minerals out there (as it can be in Texas) that you only learn about when a land man contacts you you might need these things to prove your heirship.
