May have something to do with the lignite mine?
These are the permitted depths.  The actual depths will be entered in the SONRIS Lite Well File at a later date.
Skip they started drilling the well on 1/5/11 it is going to be a north to south lateral so it should take the mine out of play.
Buck, this well looks similar to many others I have seen so not that unusual.  Also, realize there is no way to know the true lateral length from the referenced information.
I had not noticed  any that long  and was wondering what might be up. will wait for some more well info. thanks to you and Skip for info
This well looked (to me, at least) a bit unusual, in that the surface location was something like 1000' (if I remember) from the north line of the section.  The maps show the drill bore going northward toward the section line, and then turning more than 90 degrees back southward to get the lateral to run all the way to the south line.
Henry, several companies are using this approach to maximize the length of the horizontal lateral.
