Looking for Sabine Parish info

I have an opportunity to buy some land in Sabine Parish and wanted to know if there is any info on how far south the shale is likely to go.

 

I know that a huge well hit outside of San Augustine, TX.  The place I'm looking at is almost due east of that on the LA side of the lake.  I think it would be in around 14-5-13, but I haven't heard anyone talk about this area and there are no Haynseville units within about 15-20 miles.  Is it logical to think this area is too far south to count on any benefit of mineral production from the HS?

ET, I would say it is remotely possible but the issue may be the depth of the Haynesville Shale. Because the shale gets deeper to the south, it could be challenging to develop until technology improves.

Les, Are operators finding the shale shallower as you move west into Texas?

AL, moving southwest into Shelby and Nacogdoches I think the Haynesville Shale is at a similar depth to southern DeSoto Parish. Last year one of the operators said the shale gets too deep southwest of Lufkin. The Haynesville Shale in Harrison County should be at a similar depth to Caddo Parish and may be slightly shallower.

So les, where does it get to deep to be feasible? Between hwy. 6 and zwolle?

Ken, I do not have a specific location but current activity would suggest that Zwolle may be near the southern limit. Of course until additional data is needed and each operator will have their own opinion.

Ken, just wondering about the Donnier well Ser# 238113/S14-T4N-R12W, last I heard they were waiting on pipeline, did they drill into the HS, or not?

Van, that well targeted the Austin Chalk and was not drilled enough to test the Haynesville Shale. Sonris indicates the well is experiencing problems with water production.
