Louisiana Hydraulic Fracturing State Review - March, 2011

The attached document summarizes the results of a recent review of Louisiana's regulations and procedures conducted by a 3rd party stakeholder group (Stronger).  The document contains some good information regarding the regulations for hydraulic fracturing.

Won't LOC be holding a public hearing in B.R. on Aug. 30th, 2011, to address fracking operations rules changes?

Interesting:

"Following completion of hydraulic fracturing operations, the rule requires information on fracturing fluid composition and volumes be reported to OC or to a publicly accessible registry."

Looks like composition of fracking fluids will have to be publicly reported.

Tuscaloosa Trend Sits On Top Of Poorest Neighbourhood For Decades - Yet No Royalties Ever Paid To The Community -- Why??

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of)  nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
