Interesting to see that there will be a 22,000 ft well
to spud soon in Jefferson County exploring Haynesville Shale.

Skip,

Was there a Friday drilling progress report?

Bob
The Burkley-Phillips #1 reported 112 days drilling ahead @ 18,779' on 11/12/10.
Very typical to drill 1-4 ft/hour at these depths.
The Burkley-Philips #1 reported 119 days drilling ahead @ 18,150' on 11/19/10. Yeah, yeah I know but that's how the report reads. Draw your own conclusions.
has to be a typo, must be 19,150'
Yes, clearly a typo.. They changed the bit around 18,800.
19,201 this morning.. Stock has jumped 15%, highes jump since the well was spudded? Hmmmmm....
Ray,

The well is already drilling at the bottom of the Cotton Vally about to enter the Haynesville at about 19,400"... Chevron's original goal was the Smackover which they never reached..... estimated at about 22,200' in this well... if the Smackover is productive, I'm hoping they will take this down to the Norphlet... a lot will depend on BHP and if the casing program can handle it, however.
I'm confident in the productivity of the upper Cotton Valley and maybe the lower Bossier Sands based on the decision to case this well further up the hole than the originally planned 19,400'. Hopefully, that was to protect potential productive formation from damage.
Today's stock action was very positive technically, but the next 30-45 days drilling will define the thickness of the Haynesville Shale (and later the frack program to see if commercial production is possible). Smackover potential is a big unknown considering the 22,000+ BHP and extreme temperature recorded at the Chevron Long well.... this is all very exciting to be sure.
Fun day today up 37.5% to .55
Skip,

Was there a drilling progress report this holiday week?

Bob
Report date 11/24/2010, 126 days drilling ahead @ 19,495'.
Wondering if they will extend the casing string before entering the higher pressure zones ahead? Have a feeling we will see a press release soon if that is the case....

The History of GoHaynesvilleShale.com

GoHaynesvilleShale.com (GHS) was launched in 2008 during a pivotal moment in the energy industry, when the Haynesville Shale formation—a massive natural gas reserve lying beneath parts of northwest Louisiana, east Texas, and southwest Arkansas—was beginning to attract national attention. The website was the brainchild of Keith Mauck, a landowner and entrepreneur who recognized a pressing need: landowners in the region had little access to…
