I'll have to defer that question to one of the geological experts on the site.

I have seen the formation above the shale listed as CV B Lime on other well logs before, however, and sometimes just listed as Upper Cotton Valley.

For the CV formation below the shale I have seen it referred to as CV Lime, Haynesville Lime, Lower Cotton Valley.

Here's a pretty good stratigraphic map that details the area of E.Texas:

I am not that familiar with the stratigraphic column in E. TX. I'd prefer someone more qualified to supply the answer. Sorry.
Skip thumb through this it has the charts for East Texas and Louisiana. Anyone else want to read how the shale was formed read this document.

Thanks, TDP.
Is this around the Littles Chapel Road near Sand Hill?
Where did you find that D.G.? I need a pdf so I can make it MUCH larger.
Pulled from a google search a while back....

Adubu, the Cotton Valley Group consists of several formations including sandstones and limestones.
D. Garr, that is an excellent graph, thanks for posting it.
Maybe this is off-topic, but I did notice that the completion report listed about 600' of Eagleford formation at lower depths in the 5,180' - 6,180' range.

Any thoughts from those in the know as to whether there is any historical production from the Eagleford this far East?

All of the other Eagle Ford maps that I have seen to date show the geological trend continuing Eastward, but the information that is detailed in the maps ends abruptly around Fayette/Washington counties in Central, TX.

The "sweet spots" for Eagleford that I have seen in maps so far is centered more in The Valley in South and Central Texas, but any thoughts as to whether there might also be some modest potential from that formation this far out in East Texas as well?
I'm assuming that these two wells (Crane 1 and 2) are off the Littles Chapel Rd south of Sand Hill or is it in the CR442 area?
It's nearer to and east of CR 442.
