Need information on leasing in East Baton Rouge Parish

We own land in Bossier Parish, but live in East Baton Rouge Parish. Two years ago, they did seismic testing in our area (EBR). We were contacted in the last month about leasing our property for $400 and a standard lease. We own an acre tract and a 3 1/2 acre tract. Of course we did not lease, but we would like to find out any information about this area, what are they drilling for? Is it shale? What companies are interested in the area? Anything? Has anyone heard anything about this area in the Oil and Gas Industry? Is there anyplace I can go to find out anything about area? We want to make an informed decision on what to expect. Thanks in advance for any help.

We are working on getting the range, township and section. We used a GPS to estimate our location and it is within 1 mile of R1 east T5 South Section36. We are going next week to get a plat of our area. I will let you know the exact location next week.
I found an article referencing Dune Energy drilling in the comite field getting 3.1 mmcfe per day. This is from the tuscaloosa trend called the Cobb #1. What questions do I ask when and if the landman contacts me again? Is the land man allowed to tell me what they will be drilling for? Is he able to give us a timeline?
Thanks for the information- We are open to any information we can get.
Got our exact location Shale Geo - Section 1 Townshipe6S Range 1 East - Any information would be appreciated. We did find out that the drilling would be deep drilling and have been leasing in this area since 2006. They did tell us it was not shale.
pilgrim,

What ever they are drilling for, why not exclude the lease to that zone only. Then you can lease above and below later, if or when the need arises.
I'm new to this site so my reply is likely to be very belated on your question. I've worked the Tuscaloosa for 20 years. BP acquired 120 square miles of 3D under the Tigerland shoot. Their first well, the Edwards #1, has been drilled and the 2nd well has been permitted in your section.

Thanks- I have taken down your email for further reference. Do you know when they will start drilling the second well? We live in R1E-T6S-Section 1. Thanks for any information.
The 2nd well is: 18000 TUSC RB SUO;BARBER ETAL, API#: 1703320300
I would guess that the buyer of the Tuscaloosa assets will determine that. I'm sure that they will want to get comfortable with the 3D interpretation before they commence drilling.
Thanks- for the info.
There is a flurry of activity up in West Feliciana Parish as well. It is clothed in secrecy.
