Some time ago when the site host was changed, we lost the ability to help members follow discussion threads and group discussions by the email notices we used for years. The ability to choose what is important to you is an important option. You can configure the website to work best for you by doing a few simple things.
I suggest that everyone "Follow" the Main Page discussions. This functionality may still be in the works and we'll find out soon enough it is enabled. In the past, here is how the functions have worked. If you click on a discussion and make a reply, the "Follow" function should be enabled automatically. If you click on the discussion but do not wish to make a reply in the thread you can click on "Follow" to be notified of new replies by the notice emails. The "Follow" prompt should appear just below the first dialogue box below the discussion. By "Following", the notice emails are enabled.
Please provide feedback so that Keith can determine what is working and what may not be working. Once you get used to using the notice functions you will not miss what is of interest to you. When we lost the notice function, traffic in the sub-groups fell off considerably. Sub-groups are important for communication among members with the same priorities and locales. When you ask a question best answered by someone who shares your priority or location, it is best done on a group page. A list of the Groups appears in the far right Main Page column toward the bottom. Those groups most recently active appear on the Main Page but there are many more if you click on "View All" you will see a lengthy list of group pages that include topics such as a parish or county, a specific operator or tutorials. When you "Join" a group, you should be automatically included in notices for that group. Once again, you can "Follow" without making a reply or you can reply and be automatically included in notice emails.
A big thank you to Keith for working to reinstate these important site functions. Let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
