With the stimulus bill in the Senate a lot of calls are being made right now. The Senate members are listening and something will be happening soon. It may be too late for this but who knows? Tax breaks are being tossed around everywhere now. Why not throw the price of a telephone call in to suggest that landowners who get lease bonus payments get a tax break on those bonus payments? How about a flat 10% tax on the bonus? This would keep more money in people's pockets who really need it - landowners' in the Haynesville Shale.

There are all kinds of reasons for proposing this and supporting it but don't forget to suggest making it retro to 2008. You could always go back and file an amended return to get the money back.

It's worth a call.
