Oil.  They are "stripper wells" in the Caddo Pine Island Field.  They typically make less than a barrel a day.

Skip, why do companies drill these shallow wells unless it is to hold acreage for better times to make money in the future. I have land in Winn Parish and have noticed on Sonris that for years many shallow wells have been drilled with the exception of some test wells. Hopefully Devon will bring in many wells in Winn Parish.

Joe, "these wells" that P.G. asks about replace old wells that may be 100 years old and have reached a point where it is not worth reworking them.  The are not about HBP.  The stripper well companies typically own a large number of wells closely spaced and requiring pump jacks or downhole pumps to bring the oil to the surface.  A well may make less than a barrel a day but the cumulative production of several hundred wells can make for a profitable small business.  Especially when the price of a barrel of crude is ~ $100.  Much of the historic production in N. LA. is from relatively shallow oil producing formations.  Devon is Not A Stripper well company.  Devon will drill any and all formations they deem prospective.

You can get that data from Conservation. in Section 23-22N-15W the deepest USDW is 880'
