Thanks
If oil keeps going lower, we will probably see more short ones like today's
dbob, even short reports may contain interesting information.
completely agree - the Smackover and Glen Rose permits in today's are probably in that category.
Where folks put the money when the chips are down a little tells you a lot about where the ROI is best....
I'm not referring to ROI here but to interesting exploration activity. The Glen Rose is fairly common. A horizontal well in the SMK B is not.
This is indeed interesting, Skip. As we discussed in the Claiborne Parish group, the unit for this well was approved on June 28, 2013. I'm glad to see they finally permitted it. This is the first SMK B horizontal permit that I have seen.
Yes, obed I know. I posted the discussion on the unit application back in April. It is also of interest that this will be a Cross Unit Lateral (CUL) well.

In researching the decades-old Tuscaloosa Trend and the immense wealth it has generated for many, I find it deeply troubling that this resource-rich formation runs directly beneath one of the poorest communities in North Baton Rouge—near Southern University, Louisiana—yet neither the university ( that I am aware of) nor local residents appear to have received any compensation for the minerals extracted from their land.
This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
