Mt. Olive Gas Processing Plant (PennTex Midstream Partners LP)

HOUSTON — PennTex Midstream Partners L.P. said Monday it had begun operating its Mt. Olive, Louisiana natural gas processing plant and the string of natural gas liquids pipelines it feeds.

The facility is the second part of a natural gas processing complex near Ruston, Louisiana that consists of 200 million cubic feet per day of cryogenic processing capacity, a 14-mile gas pipeline and a 41-mile natural gas liquids pipeline. The two lines have a capacity of 400 million cubic feet per day and 36,000 barrels per day respectively.

PennTex also operates another 200 million processing plant near Lincoln Parish and 31 miles of related natural gas gathering and residue gas transportation pipelines.

Both plants serve the natural-gas rich fields of North Louisiana, which have continued to produce thus far despite low prices.

“We think a third plant is highly likely,” analysts at Houston energy investment bank Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. told clients in a note Monday morning.

Shares of PennTex Midstream lost 14 cents or 0.8 percent to $17.65 in early trading Monday

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
