I have a client who received a letter in mail yesterday from E & P proposing to "comingle Cotton Valley with Haynesville." I have not seen the letter but he read it to me. Said it addressed several sections not just his section which is adjacent to Ranchland Ac. Anyone have any ideas what that is all about. I went on Desoto Records online & can't find any info there. His letter was dated March 29, 2013, but he just received it yesterday

James, it is not a field-wide application but is effective for only the sections/units specified. There are two ways to produce gas from separate and distinct formations in the same wellbore: dual completion where both gas streams are segregated and commingled where they are not. That's the simple mechanical answer. Here is a link to a diagram of a dual completion. In commingled production the gas from both formations comes to the surface in the same tubing string or in the casing.

I looked again at Sonris last night, and no sign of the application. Since this is for comingling process, would the ap be with the other ones for sections to drill or would it be in another area of Sonris? Client's letter was dated March 26. He received it April 19. One would think it would be posted by now
Yes, application to coomingle should be included on the Commissioner's Public Hearing schedule with unit and alternate unit well applications. Sometimes applicants decide not to proceed with the entire process. It usually takes about two weeks from notice for the application to appear in the database if no "interested pariy" requests a pre-application local hearing.
I was just looking at new permits and noticed that sec. 10 of 14/14 is getting several alternates & sec. 3 north of it is getting a haynesville. This is all from Exco. Doesn't Exco have a contract with TEPCO (Tokyo Elec. Power Co.) to supply liquid gas to them once the plant in south LA is up and running?
