Everyone around including me are leased by Encana. Could someone tell me why they have activity in the section in front of me and on both sides of me but not in my direct section?

Renee, it probably is related to the expiration dates for the leases in your area. By the way, are you surrounded by Haynesville Shale wells or Haynesville Units?
Les, A few permits are being given. Charles Davis' well site is going in and another about a mile down the road is coming soon but the people beside me I know their lease ends before mine. I don't know what a unit is unless it's our leases ? Thank for answering my question
Renee, there is only one permitted Haynesville Shale well in your township (Section 27).

A unit is formed so all the mineral owners in the unit can share in a unit well's production. For the Haynesville Shale, a unit normally consists of a single section of ~ 640 acres. A mineral owner with 64 acres in the section will receive 10% of the production. If the mineral owner has a lease agreement with a 20% royalty, they will receive 2% of the unit well's production (revenue).
Someone may know exactly why your section is not seeing activity, but unless you give the section, township & range nobody can begin to answer your question.
I'm in section 5, T13N, R15W, and i'm wondering the same thing. Most people around us have old leases, but there seems to be activity around us and no one has contacted us? we live out of state, could that be the reason; should we call some of the companies?
Keb, at least your section has a well that is just waiting to be completed.
Major faults running diagonally through a Section could always be one reason Sections are skipped or delayed.
Les, I am in T9N - R10W - Section 15. Charles Davis' is about to start drilling in section 27, sections 26,22,23,16, and 10 have been contacted to be next well sites. i am in between 10,16 and 22. Thanks to everyone for all the information you guys give to us that are new to this!
weatherman, Encana sent me a check for the extra 2 years 8 months before it was due to ensure they would still have the lease. I know several other people they did the same way . I still have 16 months left before my lease is up.
Plenty of time (16 months) to commence drilling operations should Encana choose to do so...Has your section (Section 15) been unitized yet? You would have received a letter if it had been from the operator's attorney(s) notifying you of the fact.
weatherman, no letter yet just a letter from Liskow&Lewis Law office stating a Notice To The Commissioner Of Conservation and Others: RE: Cotton Valley Formation, Reservior A
Haynesville Zone, Reservior A
Sorry my computer messed up. San Miguel Creek Field
Sabine Parish , Louisiana
It is a notice for a public hearing and the mapp they sent along with on letter was for : T9N - R10W -Section 16. We got this letter about this 2 or 3 times for June 1, 2010 but only had 1 map with it showing the section across from me.
