RB, I still consider those sections to fall into Category A because EnCana/Shell have not included that acreage in the auction. Also, EnCana is the operator for the units in those sections.

I am not too concerned about the permit expiration as this has occurred across the play by various operators. EnCana simply has more well locations than they get drilled with their current rig count. It would fairly easy for EnCana to repermit the location.
Where did you get the information about E/S wanting to sell their acreage in 13-8 and 12-8?

A land broker for Encana told me a few months ago that they own approx. 98% of the acreage in Sec. 8 & 5 in 12-8. Must be a pretty dismal outlook for that area for them to seek to get rid of it when they own practically the whole thing.
Highwayman, sorry but if you read some of my earlier comments in this thread I said EnCana/Shell are retaining most of their acreage in T12N-R8W & T13N-R8W so it is not a complete exit of those areas. The acreage for sale in the auction is in the far southeastern corner of Red River parish and primarily consists of sections where they control less than 50% of the section and/or Samson is operator of the unit.

Sections 5 & 8 in T12N-R8W are not included in the auction so are being retained by EnCana/Shell.
REF. category b, In township 9, range 12 west (sabine) swepi unitized several sections last year.At the time cheaspeake was leasing heavily in this area and of course some unleased. I think due to pre haynesville shale leasing (AUDABON) in this area swepi may have the majority acreage in these units but not by much. I know that would have to add to the overall expense. Not quite sure how that would play out.
