In order to give some indication of the most recent unitization activity within the boundaries of the Haynesville Shale Play, I will begin to give updates by area. I am designating all ranges within the 20N through 17N townships as the North, all those from 16N through 12N as the Central and 11N through 8N as the South. This is an arbitrary partition and is not meant to accomplish anything other than a means to designate where the most recent units are being formed. Since the previous SNAPSHOT Map, there have been 1 unit application in the North, 12 in the Central and 6 in the South. I am considering other changes that I hope will make the SNAPSHOT Map of greater value to the members. If you have a suggestion, please pass it along.
Skip, Thanks for the info. We live in T16N-R15W-S13. We have rec'd three letters re pre-application notices for sections 1, 12, &13 (which I assume is a legal formality). I see on your map that 33 of 36 sections have been unitized in our Township. Sonris shows 1, 13, 17, & 24 not unitized. I am a bit confused (but curious). Any info you know would be appreciated. Ann
Ann. It is normal for there to be discrepancies between my Snapshot Map and SONRIS because I include pending applications in my totals and SONRIS adds HA Drilling & Production Units only after they are approved for a unit order through the Public Hearing process. I include the applications because the incidence of unit applications not being approved at final hearing is rare. Though I try to provide a reasonably early accounting of HA units, you will from time to time see members post copies of pre-application notice letters which are the absolute earliest indication of an operator's intention to seek unit status (the letters you mention). I do not include those simply as an arbitrary decision on my part because all pre-app notice letters do not show up on GHS.

I show that Sections 1, 13, 24 have no HA Unit order. I can not explain why Section 17 does not appear on SONRIS. It is an old application and order. The application by Chesapeake was heard Oct. 21, 2008 as Docket Number 08-1584 and approved as HA RA SU BB for the Johnson Branch Field as Order 994-D-5.
Thanks Skip - Very helpful information.
Skip, I really appreciate all you do for GHS. Breaking the Snapshot Map down into North, Central, and South areas is great. May I suggest that the areas be color coded, this would make viewing the map much easier.
FXEF. I have been thinking along those exact lines but I would like some feed back from the members. The map could provide more specific information but I just haven't figured out how to do it. I thought about a color code for the "core" but I am not sure that is sufficiently established. The 19N and 18N townships haven't had a new HA unit application or order in a long time. And the 17N townships are not much more active save for the far eastern ranges and taking into consideration that Ranges 14 and 13W are heavily urban. The Play is moving south but much of the recent applications in the far south have few wells. And in some cases, none. Please feel free to make suggestions as I am still undecided on the changes that would be appropriate.
Thanks for the information -- and your work.
Where would one go on Sonris to find out which sections in a TS are unitized? I'm in 11/11. Thanks.
George. Other than the GIS map of the Haynesville Play, which from the above discussion appears to have some errors, there is no one place where that information is compiled. That's why members like myself and Les B. must check the public hearing schedule daily and run a spreadsheet in order to have a comprehensive list. For 11N - 11W, I have Sections 1, 12 to Samson Contour. Sections 4,16,27,28 to Petrohawk. Sections 19,30,31 to SWEPI. And Sections 21,32 to Chesapeake. This information is contained in the Dockets on the Public Hearing Schedule on SONRIS but it is a lot of data to wade through in order to pick out all the HA Drilling & Production Units. My spreadsheet is approaching 1000 rows and contains HA unit applications going back to January 9, 2007.
Thanks Les and Skip for this information. I really appreciate all your help.
