Unitization moves south. The core fills up.

Lots of surveying going on in the Belmont Marthaville area for pipelines. No wells drilled yet in this part but they are putting in the pipelines. Talked to a surveyor the other day and he said they were surveying for a section from the Converse Loop. Said the pipelines were being layed for the Encana wells that are yet to be drilled.

What's an average waiting time between the time a section is unitized until it is drilled?

Since there is no timetable imposed by the state, there is no average time between a unit being formed and the first well spudded. The timetable for drilling is governed by the lease terms of the mineral interests pooled in that drilling unit. Some operators drill a "non-unitized" well prior to applying for a unit order. Other units still have no well 2 years after they were formed. If lessors agree to lease extensions, some units may not have wells for 4 or 5 years. Not likely but possible as unit orders are valid indefinitely. Lease terms, by law, can not exceed 10 years.

I've been getting notices about unitizing of the section next to mine in 17n 15w. Ours has not been unitized. I see there are 13 units now according to your map. Don't think there very many Haynesville wells drilled though. I got a year to go on my lease.

The formation of units is a leading indicator of development activity. Roads, pipelines and wells most always follow behind. Without asking the operator it's just impossible to say how long.

I noticed some orange tape and stakes on my back property line. Must be for a pipeline perhaps, huh?
No one has given me any info for what they are for.

Natach. There's always hope. The development activity is currently too far west of you to make too much of an assumption. I have never done a search for deep wells in the Goldonna area. If there are wells to sufficient depth that were logged with technology that is post-1980, the evidence is there and one or more companies know it. If you do a SONRIS search and find existing vertical wells producing from the HA formation then it is sand, not shale , in that area. Our best hope is for nat gas prices to improve and for a national energy policy that favors nat gas. Then you shouldn't have to wait too many years to find out for sure. Good Luck.

Skip, I appreciate your quick response. I know about a year or so ago we leased with a seismic group that completed their testing at the end of 08/beginning of 09. So, I was hoping that from the testing something positive would come our way. However, I have more time than anything right now but thanks for the info
