Anybody know of a good software package for owner gas royalty management?  I need something better that just a do-it-yourself spreadsheet.  If anyone is using such a program, what do you think of it? I have Googled up a few but most are just startup ventures or way too big and envolved for what I want.

IMHO, there are no great consumer/owner oriented software programs for this available.  Even the ones I have seen are still not flexible enough to adjust to changes in how the operator reports it to the owner (which some BHP owners are going through now, and Encana owners have seen multiple changes in how data is reported since the start).  If you have multiple operators who each have different systems, then that can pose new problems.

If its not much acreage, I think a good spreadsheet and a little time going over the statement each month could work.  If it is over 100 acres and in multiple units, then I would have a different recommendation.

Thanks HBP.  I am talking about +1,000 acres, many wells, multiple operators, etc.  I have been looking for something for several years but, like you, have found little that fits the bill.  I have looked at MineralFile, Pops Royalty and a few others.  Thanks for your input.

Rex--- to start with  I would download all your deeds, leases, documents on a CD for storage-- then maybe scan and upload all your pay stubs each months and save on your PC and back up on server or iclouds or CDs-- use this in list itemized with all your assets and Last Will. Update it every 5 years or so or sooner if events occur in your life or family. I am sure you may have already done such

Check out this link.  Yet don't know if anyone has vetted his software/app, so try contacting Jason and maybe he can explain.

Gosh- Saw this one a few months back but it looks like it never went anywhere.  Startup software ventures are a dime a dozen I guess.  Looks like there is a need for this I would think.

The best I've seen is a new company called ShaleTrak. http://shaletrak.com/
