State approves company for 330 MW natural gas-fired plant
2 September 2009-- Idaho Power Co. received approval from the state Public Utilities Commission to build the Langley Gulch Power Plant, a 330 MW natural gas-fired station. The plant is scheduled to begin operating in late 2012 and is expected to cost $400 million.

Idaho Power initially planned to increase its generating capacity with coal, but switched to natural gas amid rising concerns about climate change.
