How do I find out how much a company has in escrow for unknown heirs?

Is a company obligated to tell?

Because of the privacy law, you will first have to prove that you are a legitamate heir by sending a succession, affidavit of heirship, or other proper documents that has been filed at the court house where the property is located to the Oil and gas company.  They will then do a division order which could take months and then divide the property and disburse the funds.

In Texas(I believe in  all states) after about 5 years the unclaim escrow accout is transferred to the State. The state this publishes a list of unclaim property periodically that includes everything some by names last owners and other by property discription. Check with Statte Unclaimed property department is place to start if you think your heirs had royalty.
