U.S. Natural gas supply May Dry Up Within 30 Years, T. Boone Pickens says.

T. Boone Pickens, who has spent more than a year telling Americans the answer to their energy woes is natural gas, said Thursday the U.S. natural gas supply will probably dry up in about 30 years.

At that point, Americans will have to find some other technology to fuel vehicles, Pickens said during a speech Thursday at the University of Texas at Dallas.

"Natural gas is just a bridge," he said.

"Twenty-five, 30 years is what we're going to get out of it. Then you'll have to get over to either fuel cells or battery. You'll have to be on to some other transportation fuel by then," he said.

Pickens has spent $62 million of his own money, and most of his time since July 2008, promoting the Pickens Plan to get the U.S. off of foreign oil. He suggests switching vehicles to domestic natural gas instead of using foreign oil. He also wants the country to add more wind power to the electrical grid.

Pickens, a geologist who became a billionaire by operating a hedge fund, is pushing Congress to pass a law to convert the 7 million 18-wheelers in the U.S. to natural gas.

He said the conversion would take about seven years. It could save the country from importing 2.5 million barrels of oil each day, or about half what the U.S. gets from the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.

Pickens predicted that oil prices will rise to $300 a barrel in the next 10 years if the world doesn't cut demand. He said oil companies struggle just to maintain current levels of production, and he doubts they could increase supply.

"Natural Gas is just the bridge" is a bit of understatement. He show drop the 'just.' Natural Gas is the bridge energy independence and renewal energy resources.
Too bad they won't let us use tree huggers as a fuel source... I am sure that I could get a few miles out of Tre Arrow's decomposing body.
Bill R,

Egyptians have burnt mummies for fuel for centuries. I guess it depends how you prepare them to make a "tree-hugger" burn. Wonder how much carbon -foot print one has and how much emissions one would give off? Probably burn real hot and quick like "lighter pine".

During World War II, the French used wood-burning trucks.

I once spoke to an old farmer in North Louisiana, where we were laying a pipeline across his land, and he told me he had to butcher his fattest "piney-woods rooter-razorback" sow, because she had run through a loose joint of stove pipe laying in his yard and cur off all her teats. After rendering her out he said he got 7 pounds of bacon and 5 gallons of turpentine out of her. You don't think that ole boy was pulling a city-boy's leg, do you?
I've been botherd by the sentiment you express here. I consider this thread crass and inappropriate. I do not belive your vailed references to violence will be tolerated on this site. There are sites where you may find hate speech that may be more suited to your opinion and intolerences.
Roy with Gas, Oil, and Trees that I do hugg.
You don't have to read it Roy but since you did already......get over it. We are creating a generation of wusses in this country because everyone is so freakin sensitive. Hypersensitivity is part of the great divide amongst people in this country. I am so sick and tired of it.
Been on this site since the stert, I am expressing myself, I do not have to like what you say or who you are . I am a Vietnam Combat Vet amd paid with my blood literaly for that rght. I do not like these BS threats and would love for you to give it your best try to abridge my rights. You think I am a wus pick your game bring it on lets see who is sensitive. I could use more explitavies but that is not approprite on a site I use every day. So cut the bs on Harming others. Take it elsewhere. I am sick and tired of the wuses that make BS threats on sites that are off subject. Your request that I over look the BS you and yours sling is not granted. It is you that is creating wusses. My sons have also served this country and are courageous examples that I am proud of. The subject of this thread is about what T. Boone Pickens said. I read it to find this BS about preparing "tree huggers" for burning. I sat take it elsewhere and you insult me. No I won't get over it. You know it does not belong here wher we come for useful information.
Thanks for your service Roy. Now that we have cleared up the fact that I respect your service to this Country I must add that the hypocrisy in your comments is rich. I would think that you(with your active defense of the Constitution) would think that everyone has the right to express their thoughts not just you. No threats were made until you asked me to "pick my game". That is not much better than the tree hugger comments made above and just for the record, not by me. Also, check the comments I made and refresh my memory as to where I said "YOU" were a wus?????????? Oh, it's not there. The first comment made by whomever made it is obviously not serious hence the "get over it" comment. Bill R did not actually think that anyone would head right out and start burning "tree huggers" for a fuel source. My last comments on this as it has gotten way off track.
I made no threat you pick the game I will beat you at it. As long as it is not golf. THat is the all time wusses game. You are right I was ranting and wrong for it. Peace, but do not mess with my trees!
That was funny.
Cheers and no hard feelings.
you guys should come to the political forum. we can call each other all kinds of names there.
Roy, how are you at pool? I shoot a mean game.
A large part of the Marcellus will never get drilled because of the tree huggers.
