Just wondering since they put out the new natural gas ad about using new technology to develop domestic supplies of natural gas. Is that commercial just a cover for what they are really working on.

This could be bad news if it drops natural gas prices so low that shale plays aren't economical. Is XOM teaming up with the arabs to drop the price of natural gas by importing their product? This would serve the arabs well in that we would buy their gas and it would serve XOM well in that it may kill off some rising stars like Devon/XTO/Encana. Am I just being paranoid?

B.S. Les,
If the high costs of fuel had absolutely nothing to do with the economy then I guess you are right. But they do.

Not sure who you consider slutty bedfellows since Qatar is one of the most progressive Middle East countries.

What does that make them....Independents, Dems...
They must let their women vote to get such a forward progressive title, Les.
The XOM's may or may not have any control over Fan/Fred but they certainly control more of our economy and the global economy as well then you are willing to admit. Not blaming you for it Les, unless you are the CEO or CFO of XOM. If you are, I am blaming you Les! :-)
North LA, your title is in error since the project is related to Qatar not "arabs".

International O&G companies have always developed reserves in the US as well as as overseas so this is not a matter of choosing one over the other. This now holds true not only for US companies but also for O&G companies from UK (BP), Norway (Statoil), Italy (ENI), Netherlands (Shell), etc.

Qatar LNG projects are set up for LNG imports into Asia, Europe & North America dependent upon demand level.

Recognize when new LNG Import Terminals were planned for US, domestic natural gas supplies had been in decline for several years and new import capacity was required. The Q-Flex and Q-Max LNG tankers would help reduce the cost of transporting supplies to consumers.

XOM has no interest in killing off independent O&G companies as these are not their primary competitors.
Thanks Les for the insight.

I was refering to ethnic arabs and not Saudis. Qatar was founded by arabs although now it is a very mixed population. The ethnic arabs still own and control almost everything.
