Are these the same thing?  We recently had a seismographic survey done on our property by Seitel Data and now have a request to do a geophysical survey by Global Services for a much lower price.  Can the price be negotiated or do we have to accept what they offer?

Hi Kathy,

I thought the two companies did much the same thing but I'll defer to others that might give you a definitive answer.  I have had experience with Global and was satisfied in the way they treated my property.   It appears they offer 15-25.00 and acre to run their lines and record seismic data.  There is also MicroSeismic that acquires data for EOG.  They drill and place a geophone approximately 300' underground and record seismic events during fracking operations.  I assume all prices are negotiable and you wouldn't have to accept anything unless there is some kind of existing agreement for such operations.  I've been accomadating so far with these folks feeling that good informaion may be in my best interest.  We'll see!

This area has suffered immense environmental degradation…
