I was curious also about the permits for 600'. How close is that to Oil Springs?

According to Julie, the area is an old shallow oil field.

I'm as curious as everyone else about what they are doing.  Someone wondered if they were drilling water wells and I don't see what the TRRC would have to do with that.  Water wells would be permitted by the water district, wouldn't they?

Shallow Oil jffree1.  These wells won't produce enough to get the big players interested, but a well doing a few hundred bbls a month would be great for most of us.  I'll take a dozen please.

That's what I thought, j garrett.  Any thoughts about whether this field would be a candidate for "enhanced" production methods?

ben--- it's in the Melrose area of the oil springs plus there is another one permitted southwest of the Cupcake called moon near Sam Rayburn lake by Sonerra also 600'.  The Oil Spring wells first in about 1866 were only 95-110' deep and producted untill about 1900.

May be an attempt to HBP acreage with (a usual) 5 gal. / day well from the OLD field.

they already have wells in area so they do not need these for HBP.

There were three applications for 1,000 ft oil wells in 2006 (one was rejected).  The two 600' for Sonerra are listed as Oil or Gas Wells.

I am curious as well.  We have a lease expiring with Sonerra and I am wondering if they are doing these to prevent the lease expiration?

Our lease expires with Sonerra in Sept (nearer Nacogdoches) so I'm always interested in what they're doing too.
