Very interesting. Thanks for posting.
I would love to see something like this from all the players in that Shale. I thought there would be more oil on the Louisiana side of LSBD.
SWN has characterized the LSBD as similar in hydrocarbon variance to the Eagle Ford Shale in SW. Texas. By that they mean that as the depth changes so does the type of hydrocarbon they expect to be present. The Eagle Ford has, from north to south, an "oil window", a "wet gas window" and a "dry gas window". In the LSBD SWN is targeting the area that they think contains oil and that is generally what they depict in their play maps. The LSBD further south into LA. is getting deeper and is more likely to have progessively less liquids until reaching a depth where the hydrocarbons are dry gas. SWN has difficulties associated with the depressed price of nat gas as their existing production is close to 100% dry gas. They need to promote the fact that they have a new prospect that is oil. The other players are better balanced in their production mix.
On the map on page 16 of this pdf, is the OBO permit north of the Devon well in Morehouse Parishthe Dan A. Hughes Plum Creek well?
Yes, it is Chester.
Thanks Skip. I thought it was but didnt have this well on my map yet.
Dan A. Hughes has sixty days left on their permit. It will be interesting to see if they spud under this existing one.
SWN has a presentation on Thur, Feb 9. A Credit Suisse thing or something similar. Don't know if we will hear anything or not. But... I have heard of "hints" of good news. Let's wait and see...
Here's a link to a page on SWN's site about upcoming presentations, including the the Credit Suisse Energy Summit in Vail on February 9. Presentation time is at 11:10 a.m. Assume that's Mountain Time, but not sure.
Does any one have new information on the Roberson well? Has SWN trucked out any oil?
I've heard that they are on Stage 3 of 3 on the Lateral Line. I heard a rumor yesterday that the Roberson is pumping out over 50 barrels per hour/ 1000 bopd. As I said, it's only a rumor.
At that rate, you'd think they would be moving some oil off-site soon if not already. Has anyone seen or heard anything to confirm that? Or just rumor and speculation still?
1M bbl per day would equal 7 trucks at least. That would be noticed. Any chance the amount is an estimate based off of limited test?

AboutAs exciting as this is, we know that we have a responsibility to do this thing correctly. After all, we want the farm to remain a place where the family can gather for another 80 years and beyond. This site was born out of these desires. Before we started this site, googling "shale' brought up little information. Certainly nothing that was useful as we negotiated a lease. Read More |
