Skip,

Consider adding these two wells to yuor Master List

242094 EXXONMOBIL 16 001

 SKLAR EXPLORATION CO, LLC

16-T23N-R02E Union Parish, LA

Vertical Completion, and the only LSBD currently known to be producing.

239523 EXXON-MOBILE 002

WEISER-BROWN OPERATING C0

12-T22N-R01E; Union Parish, LA

Drilled 2009, tested in August 2009. Reported volumes on Sonris came out of of the ground over a short period of time per emergency oil clearances (which are not posted on Sonris). Well is currently SI. What's interesting is that the big leasing program was kicked off soon after this test. Heard a rumor the well kicked hard - needed the Halliburton 10K lb pressure trucks to control. Could not log - hence open hole completion. Don't understand why this well has not had further activity.

Thanks, Jim.  I removed the Sklar ExxonMobil 16 #1 from my list out of an abundance of caution as the producing interval did not appear to be of sufficient depth compared to the Top of the Smackover listed in the completion report.  That and the producing horizon listed as SMK instead of L SMK.  If you judge it as L SMK based on the well log, I'll return it to the list.

I reviewed the Wiser-Brown ExxoMobil #2 and agree that it is clearly a L SMK completion although it also lists the producing horizon as SMK.  Interesting rumor.  And a reminder that  ExxonMobil fee lands may contain some of the better LSBD.

Skip,

Documents filed with the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission have revealed where Southwestern Energy Production Co. of Houston plans to drill its second oil exploratory well into the Lower Smackover Brown Dense formation in Arkansas.

The information was published in SEPCO's application for the establishment of an exploratory drilling unit in southern Union County. The unit is described as being in Section 1, Township 19S, Range 16 West. The Dick James 19-16 No. 1-1H.  This application was filed last fall.  The location is cleared, fenced and the pits are dug.  Are you aware of any current updates on this?

Dwayne, I have seen mention of the Dick James Unit in several articles.  I have not found a unit application for it.  I think it was intended as SWN's second well but the L SMK RA SUA; GARRET 7-23-5H #1 (S7-23N-5W, Lick Creek Field, Claiborne Parish) currently drilling is the second well and the next permitted and ready to be spud is the L SMK RA SUA; BML PROP 31-22-1H #1 (S31-22N-1W, Ora Field, Union Parish).  Maybe your question will elicit a response from someone who knows the status of the Dick James well/unit.

Sklar log was released in January by the Office of Conservation after they failed to renew for the second year of confidentiality. I checked the open hole electric log against the reported perforations.

I hope the oversight didn't get anyone at Sklar in trouble.

Jim - I've been following the discussions around Union Parish for the past few months (my folks live/have land in Marion) and my father was telling me about a well that could possibly be the Weiser-Brown you mentioned.  He says there is a well that was drilled a couple of years ago by Weiser-Brown close to Marion that could not be completed until the natural gas was removed.  Currently a pipeline is being run from this well to tie into a larger line that is owned by Texas Gas.  That is what people are saying in their community - I do know several people who were paid very well for their land to be crossed, and I have seen flags up along the highway, so something is going on!  Just thought I'd pass that along.  I'm not sure this is the same well, but it could be.

Wow! Same story I heard two years ago - they needed a pipeline, and Texas Gas Transmission has the only main gas line in the area.

Thanks for the info Sherrye.

Been waiting awhile to see what this well will do.

the Weiser Brown well nearby was supposidly shut in due to lack of pipeline, they claim to have sour gas.
